I have been a childbirth educator and doula for over 7 years now. I have 5 children of my own and, as a doula, I have experience in many types of birth, including home birth, VBACs, and multiples. I have attended around 20-35 births at this time. 

I believe that childbirth is a natural and normal event. I believe that it is not birth that is risky, but what we do to it that makes it risky. I am an advocate of natural childbirth, but work to empower women to make their own educated decisions regarding labor and birth. I believe that our culture and societal leanings have preconditioned women to fear the power of their body’s labor contractions, rather than embrace them. I believe that a doula can help a woman to reclaim the beauty, strength, and humble respect of the rite of passage to motherhood called childbirth; that women might believe again in their bodies abilities. My hope is to dispel fear and anxiety over this blessed event through advocacy, education, and support.

I have been a trained Labor Doula with DONA since July '07. I am currently wrapping up my certification with Wonderfully Made. February '08 I attended my training workshop with Wonderfully Made Childbirth and I am also nearing completion towards my certification as an instructor. I have attended 0-5 births. I look forward to providing birthing services, advocacy, and empowerment through education to our childbearing families in the Middle Tennessee Area.
